The Medical Device Manufacturing Centre (MDMC)

Helping SMEs translate medical device concepts through to prototypes.

The Medical Device Manufacturing Centre (MDMC) supports small and medium sized companies to translate medical device concepts through to small batch commercial prototypes. Assistance is provided via specialist advice and technically supported access to state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment.

MDMC services are delivered by a highly experienced inter-disciplinary team of engineers, scientists and clinicians from Heriot-Watt, Edinburgh, Robert Gordon, and Glasgow Universities.

Key Information
The services of the Medical Device Manufacturing Centre are free for Scottish SMEs only and include a newly equipped manufacturing laboratory located at Heriot-Watt University Edinburgh campus, operated by a team of Technology Specialists.

Thanks to the combined expertise of the MDMC core team and Advisory Board, the Centre is able to advise on advanced manufacturing techniques, medical device regulatory affairs and clinical evaluation.
